Michael Steinberg, General Partner

Michael concentrates on the Capital Markets, Asset Management and emerging technologies such as digital currencies, blockchain and artificial intelligence.

Michael has 15+ years of experience investing in both public and private companies across the technology landscape. Before founding Reciprocal, Michael worked at boutique asset manager Sanford C. Bernstein, moving to SAC Capital in 1996. As a Portfolio Manager at SAC, he built analyst teams, invested and managed a portfolio of publically traded technology companies within the hardware, enterprise software and communication sectors. Michael generated 15 consecutive years of positive returns, while simultaneously delivering one of the highest Sharpe ratios at the firm.

Michael has been an active venture investor in a personal capacity since 1999, an early backer of breakthrough startups such as Mechanical Zoo (Google acquisition) and 160 Academy. In 2011, Michael began devoting his professional life to FinTech and was fortunate to be an early backer of FinTech data analytics startup Dataminr.

He launched Reciprocal Ventures in 2016.

Michael received a B.A. from University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Michael has many philanthropic interests. He co-founded Natan in 2002 and served as its chairman from 2005-2009. Currently, he enthusiastically supports of Colel Chabad and Target Cancer. Michael enjoys spending time with his wife and children, traveling and physical fitness. He can sometimes be found at Kings of Leon or Red Hot Chili Peppers concerts.

Josh Kuzon, Partner

Josh is focused on working with exceptional entrepreneurs pursuing ideas across payments, commerce, banking, lending, and financial management.

He is a seasoned FinTech industry professional with nearly a decade of experience working with companies of all sizes in the financial services ecosystem on strategy, partnerships, investments, and M&A. Before becoming a venture capitalist, Josh worked at Silicon Valley Bank where he managed the day-to-day operations of SVB’s and MasterCard’s joint FinTech startup accelerator, Commerce.Innovated., and led corporate development activities for SVB in the payments and broader FinTech space. Josh also worked at JPMorgan Chase in their Corporate Strategy and Development group where he focused on driving enterprise-wide strategy and innovation across the firm’s mobile, ecommerce, and payments related businesses. Josh dedicated much of his time at JPMC to pursuing partnerships and investments with innovative tech startups, most notably JPMC’s investments in Square (IPO) and GoPago (sold to Amazon). Josh started his career at First Annapolis, where he advised participants in payment-based sectors of the financial services industry on strategy, partnerships, and M&A.

He graduated from Lehigh University with a BS in Finance.

Outside of the office, Josh enjoys live music, podcasts, skiing, fitness classes, and exploring New York City with his wife Pamela, a native New Yorker and consumer & cultural insights strategist. Josh resides in Brooklyn Heights with his wife and is a big fan of the band Phish.

Craig Burel, Partner

Craig is focused on discovering and supporting top innovators who are passionate about leveraging cutting edge technologies to revolutionize how large enterprises and financial institutions operate. He is interested in Blockchain, AI, and B2B SaaS.

Prior to joining Reciprocal, Craig was Head of Revenue Operations at FiscalNote, a leading RegTech SaaS startup that’s working to change how companies interact with public policy. As their ninth hire, he contributed to the company’s growth on many levels, including signing new customers, supporting the fundraising process, and couch surfing to save the company money during his weekly trips inside The Beltway. Craig was responsible for designing data-driven go-to-market strategies and processes to accelerate revenue growth, while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Sales Development, Inside Sales, and Field Sales teams. Before joining FiscalNote, he worked on Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Equity Sector Sales team, focusing closely on companies in the media/telecom space. Craig graduated from Lafayette College with a BA in Economics.

On the weekends Craig can be found surfing, playing fetch with his hyperactive dog PepperJack, and hunting down NYC’s best tacos.
